What is all this Charity fuss?
Relief and exhilaration
That is what it feels like to raise over £2600 for charity – exactly what Alex Sewell did on March 17th when he jumped 150,000 feet from a light aircraft, all in aid of The Watford Peace Hospice.
Sewell & Gardner are renowned for their charity work and it is on-going throughout the year, at the moment supporting The Watford Peace Hospice, Watford Mencap (both with businesses in Rickmansworth) and Comic Relief. It is exceptionally important for local charities to be able to rely on private funding, when they are constantly fighting government funding cuts and yet are doing such a tremendous job for the local community. Therefore, we find it an essential part of our business to take time out to help these charities and also to join in with National campaigns, such as Sports Relief, Comic Relief, Children in Need etc.
It is a fun experience when the team throw themselves into these events wholeheartedly and that is what our staff do, on a regular basis.
With fruit donated by Waitrose in Rickmansworth, leg power from Reagan, Michelle & Susie and smoothie making skills from Jane, we raised an impressive £186 for Comic Relief.
We even had a gentleman stop his car in the middle of the road, run over brandishing a £20 note for the entire bucket of COLD water, and whoosh… into Alex’s face! And he wasn’t even a Sewell & Gardner customer but ‘any agent would do’! Happy to oblige.
Now that was a fun day, the High Street lined with supporters, we had 2 teams of 4 running and we had to toss the pancake half way up outside Cafe Nero’s. Some cheated, but not Sewell & Gardner of course!!!
This is an interesting one. Moving day is looming and what are you going to do with all that old clutter? What you do is call Sewell & Gardner and order as many of our ‘declutter’ boxes as you need, fill them up and either drop them back to us or leave them outside and call us to collect (we will do as soon as possible but cannot guarantee dates / times) and all those items you were going to throw away will go directly to Watford Mencap for them to sell or recycle.
